bisons in winter time

In summer, bison hide in the forests and can be found by chance. It is completely different in winter. They gather in large flocks, even up to 100 searches, they look out onto meadows and fields. It often happens that the flock stays in one place for a few or even several days. There is then an opportunity to get close to a reasonable distance and take photos. Good pictures can be taken during favorable weather.

the first frost this fall

Autumn was warm and quite dry. Only yesterday there was a change. At night there was a frost to -5 degrees. The morning was very foggy and only at noon began to clear up for about an hour. As early as at 2:00 PM, the dense fogs again began to dim. I photographed from morning and then at noon. Every moment the conditions changed.

10 November 2018

a short trip to the Biebrza Park

We already have November 10, and it is still warm for this period. We went to the nearby Biebrza Marches. The weather was extremely favorable. There is basically nothing interesting on the touring platform. Birds and animals can not be seen or heard. In September, we were picking cranberries and now we decided to look for a bit. Well, we gathered somewhere around a liter of beautiful cranberries. The black ones in the penultimate photo were not collected. The moose left them recently. Only moss and grass are green on the hummocks, and gray colors prevail around.

autumn outside my window

This fall is particularly beautiful this year. Many warm and sunny days were perfect for walks. Around in October on the trees wonderful colorful leaves. However, this period passes and is changed by short, often foggy days. There are almost no leaves on the trees. The landscape is becoming more and more gray. And only soon frosts and the first snow can occur.

autumn is coming

The autumn equinox will follow soon. In nature, the signs of autumn are visible everywhere. The colors change and although we have very warm days, the nights become longer and cooler. The fields are deserted, the cranes are preparing for departure. Soon the trees will start to change their color. Here are some photos from today's trip over our small river.

my new species

It seems to be a common butterfly. I saw a lot of photos of this butterfly on the internet. I never saw him in my near and distant area. Here, yesterday, almost before sunset at the edge of the forest, I met him. It was just Black-veined white (Aporia crataegi). He sat calmly prepared for the night. I think the picture was fine. I'm very happy about it. I only met one more butterfly on a dry blade of grass. We have quite a serious period of drought and the number of butterflies encountered is very limited.

juvenile flycatcher

Only yesterday I noticed the flycatcher's nest just behind the gutter of the old building. A few years ago a flycatcher also had its breeding here. When I looked closely, the chicks were so large that they could barely fit into the nest. I suspected there would be a flight soon. Today I went with the camera and at that moment I noticed the hatchling leaving the nest. It landed on the ground just below the nest. Then I watched disturbed parents. I hope to succeed in the most difficult departure days. Cats most often catch such young ones.

my new beetles

Spring has come and water is needed to grow my vegetables. I collect rainwater from the gutters of an old abandoned building. It happens that in buckets with water I find beetles. These are mostly from the Carabidae family. This time I managed to photograph two new species. I am not a specialist and it takes some time to search for the names of these beetles. The first very nice is Carabus granulatus. The second is Carabus nemoralis.

19 April 2018

and suddenly spring came

It was chilly, windy and cloudy. The last snow fell on April 2. Suddenly spring came. On April 14-16, the temperature exceeded +20 degrees and everything around the greenery. In the woods, anemones and liverworts bloomed, and on wet marshy meadows - marsh marigolds.

24 March 2018

foggy spring morning

Taking a good photo is not easy. The light and density of the fog changes and is different in different places. When I found myself in the forest, I was disappointed because there was no fog at all. In the field and on the river, thick as milk and bushes frosted after the morning frost. It is interesting to use in such short and long focal length conditions. The photo session ends when the fog is spreading.

16 March 2018

and when the sun sets

Until 7 March we had winter weather. There was snow and frost, and you could even go skiing at the edge of the forest. Returning from the last winter trip, we stopped at the sight of a beautiful sky after sunset. There is silence here in the countryside at this time, and people are preparing for supper. When the snow comes down, everything will be gray around it, and still far away to the spring greenery.
