elks have appeared in our forests

As you can see, the quality of the photos is not very good, but I am happy with the result. I made it after 18.00 and it was already quite dark. I was able to adjust the display parameters to such scant light. Elks in our area have appeared a few years ago. During a walk in the forest I could see their traces, places of rest and foraging on young pines. I met a moose for the second time and always after sunset. That’s when they go out to the fields to feed. The female and the young showed up. Shooting is very difficult. The animals did not avoid me, but rather I was afraid that the female and the young did not attack me. Then, when it was almost completely dark, two more elks appeared. The female attacked them very dynamically in defense of their young. Unfortunately, I regretted that I was not able to photograph such an interesting scene. Maybe it will be possible to photograph next time.

Taking a good photo is not easy. The light and density of the fog changes and is different in different places. When I found myself in the forest, I was disappointed because there was no fog at all. In the field and on the river, thick as milk and bushes frosted after the morning frost. It is interesting to use in such short and long focal length conditions. The photo session ends when the fog is spreading.

And we have real winter with snow and frost. It started with snowfall on January 18 in the evening. It is true that the snow is not too much, but in the woods skiing is very good to walk. The last days are getting colder. The sun shines from time to time and beautiful frost appeared on the trees. I usually visit almost the same places to photograph. Here are the first pictures of the walk on a sunny day.

and this is the second snow this winter

Winter is capricious this year. The first snow fell and soon it was melting. Next autumn days, wet and very cloudy. Here is the second snow and also very wet. The positive temperature is slowly melting. Hence misty and gray. Here are some photos from a trip to the forest. Few tracks of animals have been noticed.

world beavers

Many of us talk about the great invasion of beavers. I remember when it was said that only beavers lived somewhere near the lake Wigry. Now they can be found even along small streams and small rivers. Here in the north of the province, they have lived in small numbers in 70 years. In the south of the province literally 10 years ago. Here in my environment I know the four places where beavers live. Two of them are over the river Sidra. The other two along the nearby stream, which is surrounded by a pretty large clusters of trees, mainly alder. One of them is just off the road and ponds. Built by the beaver dam was still destroyed, but half a year beavers have peace. The fourth position is huge. There is until 4 huge dams, increasing the water level. Sunk is a large area of ​​the forest. The trees are already dead. There beavers nobody bothers. The easiest way to get there in the winter. You can accurately view, moving around the ice. Today we have the winter solstice and begins the day we arrive. Aura does not indicate that we have winter. Snow is not all. Today, after several foggy and dark days, the sun came out. I did not refuse myself the pleasure to go to a nearby forest. Although we have clean air in our region, but in a forest it is saturated with scents of trees and undergrowth. Using staying in the forest I did 2 birch broom, which are very useful for small snowfall. I think it still will be white. Here are some pictures from the trip.

season started, but for how long

I mean the season for hiking on skis after the close neighborhood. This way of communing with nature is very attractive, if weather conditions are favorable. With that in recent years we frequented differently. Last winter, it was a period of only two weeks. Today the conditions were good, the temperature is about -2 degrees, and snow still little, but you can find places where fun to ride. Today's first outing on skis was short, just before sunset. I hope more such days. I remember one winter when the ski season started early, in the last days of November, but unfortunately in December and throughout the winter there was the possibility of setting skis. Sometimes meteorologists communicate forecast for next winter. Most often we forget them. I think that these long-term forecasts are rather guessing, because too many factors influence the weather changes. Already we have for the second time heavy snow, and we had about the previous 10 November. Is this time the snow melts again? Few remember what was the previous winter.
