And now, after several years of waxwings they appeared at us. These beautifully colored birds rejoice eye. It was a lot of snow and frost below -10 degrees contributed to their arrival. Just before noon, I saw a large herd on the old lime tree next to the garden, where there is a lot of viburnum shrubs. Fruit is a lot. There, I see fieldfares, when the goods also taste now viburnum berries. It seems to me, how long will the berries, so they will be here. Photographing is not easy enough space available, easily frightened birds, frost and -12 degrees can not help.
Photographing nature for several years I see changes in our fauna. This year, in December, I watched only a few species of birds. For several years, I have not seen waxwings our guests from the far north. Also, so common in our deer I see rarely and only in amounts of not more like 3-4. Mild winter with a small amount of snow is not the first time, and particularly in December. A little sad when wandering through the forest can not see even a single bird. I do not know what is the reason. Very dry summer and autumn 2015 years probably contributed to this situation.
Here are some pictures from December 2012.
Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)
This is a typical bird of the north, who comes to us in November to spend the winter here. These birds migrate in large flocks stopping at fruit, rowans, shrubs on wintering fruit. while foraging often quarrel with each other and fight. They have a quick flight, but most of all the wonderful plumage that best describe these photos. I managed several times to shoot on apples and on the ground.
Today I've had good luck. A few day ago I perceived group of waxwings but I haven't camera with me. Later saw them but from long distance in the cloudy weather and only today although was late afternoon the birds perched on apple-trees and then in the small puddle.
