Poland is famous for its numerous populations of storks. In Podlasie there is a very large number of nests in some areas. They mainly live in the countryside near rivers, meadows and pastures. Although our place is made up of blocks and it is difficult for storks to live there, from time to time one or a few storks will appear and stay in the less desirable places. It is difficult to determine what is causing this. Yesterday one stork sat down at the street lamppost early in the morning and so he watched people and cars for over an hour. Last year again enjoyed the chimney of our block and stayed there for several hours. Even earlier, the storks sat on the top of the boiler chimney. There are tall old trees around and it is dangerous for such a large bird.
