wood pigeons

 Pine and larch grow in front of the windows of my apartment. Already last year, a pair of wood pigeons started building a nest, but then gave up. This year the pigeons have come again. They started building a nest. The male broke off larch twigs and carried it over a pine tree. The female was arranging them. These activities were very funny. A lot of twigs fell under the tree. Passers-by asked who was the trash under the trees. It took about 3 days to build. Then the pigeons were sitting in turn on the nest. The nest is just above the window. It's easy to observe. I got two eggs in the nest. Hatching is already taking place in the second week. I personally try to protect the place from cats looking there. The weather is very bad now. It's been raining the second day and it's about +2 degrees. Hope the chicks hatch. When that happens, I will write in the next post.

a herd of bisons from the Augustów Primeval Forest

 Now in the age of cells, it’s easy to get messages. I have just received a text message from a bison herd near the village of Skieblewo. We went there, a herd of European bison was grazing in a meadow at the edge of the forest. This is the whole herd inhabiting the Augustów forests. The first bison were brought here only two years ago. Already here the herd has increased. New bison were born. Only now were we able to observe them ourselves. Too bad it was almost dusk. Good photos are hard to come by in such conditions. But it was worth it.

a short trip by bike

It was a beautiful sunny day. So I went on a little bike trip.. I checked the forest for mushrooms. I travelled quite a distance.

Only great swaths of maize remained in the fields. Herds of cattle graze here and there.  As it was the middle of the day, I wasn’t hoping for good photos

Here are the impressions of yesterday's trip to the forest. This time we met nothing in the woods. Instead, we saw 4 deer in the field. Then, crossing the fields between the fields I saw a lone moose. The distance was considerable and late. Still, I took some pictures. When we got to the bridge in Jaczno this moose and six roe deer were there again.

it is the time for the birch juice

We have the right time to download birch juice. I return to my posts from 2013. In early spring is the time for the juicing from the birch. It's easy work. There need to do the hole in the birch tree then to hang container for jucie and to put in the wick into the hole and second end to the container.Now you must wait a few hour for result-healty juice. Two moose right on the road

Returning from shopping, I noticed two moose grazing in the rape field 100 m from the road. I quickly got home, took the camera and came back to them. They were a little further. I approached the elk a little closer, but they slowly began to move away. They managed to take some pictures before they left. I saw the same pair in December in another place about 6 km to the south.

take good photos in difficult conditions

Is it possible to take good photos in difficult conditions? I try and it works out better and better. Sometimes we get surprisingly desired results. Poor light is weak colours, grey predominates. You can look for the mood of gloomy autumn and snowless winter. Of course, many photos will be uninteresting. Can be improved with the technique of e.g. Photoshop. Here are some new photos from my trip.

elks and me

With the onset of winter, elks come back to us. They return to the pinewoods. We have a lot of young pine afforestation here, which elk like very much. Yesterday, just before sunset, crossing a dirt road, we first noticed only the head of a elk with large antlers. When we approached the hill there were two elks, one adult and the other very young. First, I took some photos from the car. When I left and wanted to gather a bit and take pictures from a different angle, the animals started to escape slowly. After a few minutes they hid in a pine forest. It was an unexpected but also a pleasant meeting. It’s worth having your photographic equipment with you.

late autumn colours

It must be said that they are basically missing. You need to look for images of moodiness.The second half of October and November are quite gloomy, gray days. Almost all trees have lost their leaves and uniform colorless landscapes prevail. Only the color of the sky at sunrise and sunset can be beautiful and colorful. It’s difficult to choose something suitable for photographing. Exposure conditions are usually poor. Here are some photos below from my surroundings.
